What does this mean for Nether Stowe School?

We are an inclusive school working within a rigorous four-year development plan, designed to improve standards as a whole and to raise performance and participation in mathematics and computing/ICT. We may include some objectives in computer science, as distinct from using ICT across a broad range of applications, but this is not essential.

Teaching and Learning:

  • we are building on proven strengths to establish our school as a centre of excellence in mathematics and computing/ICT

  • we will be breaking new ground in the teaching and learning of mathematics and computing/ICT

  • we are using, developing and sharing best practice techniques for raising educational standards

  • we offer a wide variety of vocational and academic routes for pupils of all abilities, equipping them with relevant skills for the world of work

  • we are actively involved in initial teacher training

Enrichment:

  • our provision is enhanced to offer pupils enriched opportunities

  • we get involved in national initiatives and competitions to motivate, enthuse and excite pupils

  • we introduce an enterprise and international focus to our work wherever possible

Community partnerships

  • we are active partners in a learning community, working closely with our family of schools and the wider community, sharing resources with them

  • we are supported by industry and higher education

The Schools and Academies Trust works closely with aspiring and designated Mathematics and Computing Colleges through its regional and national networks and programme of seminars and conferences. This enables them to share good practice and provide advice and support.
