Parents play a crucial role in the education of their children and a sound
home-school partnership is essential.
- making sure that your child attends school every day and on time
- checking that your child is always in the correct school uniform
and has all the necessary books and equipment before he/she leave
for school
- taking an interest in your child's work, looking at his/her
books and discussing his/her work
- supporting your child's learning by encouraging him/her to make
an attempt at homework even when a task seems difficult
- checking the Student Organiser and writing comments in it
- contacting us as early as possible with any worries or concerns
about your child's progress
- supporting the head teacher and staff in disciplinary matters
- taking every opportunity to attend Consultation Evenings and
responding to all progress reports
- making routine medical, dental and optician's appointments
outside of school hours
- avoiding family holidays in term time - it is difficult for your
child to catch up on missed work properly whilst battling with
current work
- supporting Achievement Afternoons and other events, even when
your child is not directly involved
- telling us when you are pleased with your child's work - and
ours
- sharing in the life of the school through the Parent Teacher
Association or by seeking election as a Parent Governor offering
skills, expertise and experience
